The beating heart. The seasons. Day and night. Music. Humanity has an inherent understanding of rhythms, and an affinity for them. We have tapped into the natural and cultural rhythms of life to help shape our community. For example, we have decided to use the Revised Common Lectionary for our Scripture readings to foster connection with the greater Christian community as well as provide a rhythmic structure throughout the year. We also have weekly rhythms. These include:
Weekly gatherings on Sundays
Weekly gatherings for Bible Study on Tuesdays
On many Saturdays during the summer we work on one Habitat for Humanity house
Regular volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee gatherings
Another rhythm we are working towards is a seasonal money intensive/work intensive cycle of service to our community. Currently, our developing rhythm includes:
- Spring and Summer – Habitat for Humanity (labor intensive)
- Winter – Adopt-a-family; and Pregnancy Support Center (capital intensive)
Check out the calendar for more information about our rhythms.
